Complete Fertilizer

Did you know there is a specific ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium needed to keep your yard looking healthy (read more about this under “soil testing”)?

A complete fertilizer is a fertilizer blend or mix that contains the three main plant nutrients: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), in the forms of potash, phosphoric acid, and nitrogen.

On a complete fertilizer label, the ratios of these primary plant nutrients are revealed as the product's N-P-K ratio. For example, a fertilizer with equal amounts of each element would have an N-P-K of 10-10-10.

10-10-10 fertilizer is considered a complete fertilizer because it mainly consists of the primary nutrients. Some formulas will have added iron or calcium to target certain plants.

There is no one definition of what 10-10-10 fertilizer is because each company may have different ingredients. They all contain 10% of each element, but other than that, they can vary. The more common ingredients are ammonium hydroxide, urea, ammonium nitrate, phosphoric acid, and potassium hydroxide.

Soil Testing

Sometimes your grass or garden flowers won't thrive in your yard because the levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are off. Maybe you have too much of one and not the other.  Soil testing is an important part of maintaining the health of your yard because it shows us exactly what you need to add to make it healthy.  KhemPro can certainly help with this.  The process is simple. All we need to do is take a few different samples from different areas of your yard.  KhemPro will send it directly to a trusted soil analysis lab and then meet with you to discuss the results after they return from the lab.

Core Aeration

Core aeration is a type of lawn aeration whereby a machine (a lawn aerator) with hollow tines mechanically removes plugs or "cores" of soil and thatch from a lawn. Core aeration is important because it helps reduce soil compaction, creating a channel through which oxygen, water, and nutrients can penetrate the soil.  We recommend that you aerate your lawn at least once a year.
